Southend fire recap: Police rush to scene of horror blaze as smoke billows through town Newspoint  |  2025-05-28 04:39:12


Emergency services are tackling a fire in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Crews from at least six fire stations are battling the blaze, which was first reported near the Essex County Bowling Club on Imperial Avenue shortly after 12pm.


A spokesperson for the county's fire and rescue service said firefighters had been called to "a fire in the roof of a four-storey block of flats". Imperial Avenue is home to a number of retirement communities and affluent residential homes.
