New Delhi: The trailer of the highly anticipated Frankenstein written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is out. The film stars Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz. It is set to release on Netflix in November 2025.
The project has been in the works for some time now, and ignited quite fancy and anticipation in fans around the world. Especially fans of Guillermo del Toro, a director known for his work with horror, myths and fairy tale-like stories bled in with humanism and beauty.
While the trailer only drops now, the film has been highly anticipated ever since some stills were released. A project that goes hand in hand with Guillermo del Toro’s style and themes of his major works, a Frankenstein adaptation by him is something that caters to his fans perfectly. It is also something that has both mass appeal, and chances of critical acclaim.
The trailer looks to uphold the expectations. It is stylistically astute; the cinematography looks on-point, music enticing, and set designs compelling. The period look of the film too looks to be perfect. Oscar Isaac, who plays Victor Frankenstein looks the part, and the few lengthy shots of him in the trailer look promising.
Many of the other important characters are not really shown in this trailer, like the Monster too is only shown at the end, that too not his face. Other characters like those played by Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz are also not given much time on the screen. This while frustrating for the hard core fans, is something that builds excitement and further intrigue. While fans can see a glimpse of the world of the new Frankenstein, not everything is revealed, which serves as a strong point of this trailer.
