Hyderabad: Mahesh Babu’s fan-favorite film Khaleja is making a thunderous comeback to theatres with its grand re-release today. First launched in 2010, the fantasy action-comedy has been upgraded to 4K quality, and the response from fans has been nothing short of sensational.
The movie has generated over ₹3.5 crore in pre-release ticket sales for its opening day across India, including special late-night previews on May 29. This marks one of the highest advance collections ever for a re-released Indian film, underlining the enduring popularity of the superstar and the film’s cult status.
Online ticketing giant Book My Show recorded nearly 2 lakh tickets sold before the first screening, a new benchmark for any Telugu film re-release. International interest is also strong, with solid overseas bookings contributing to the movie’s global buzz.
Given this overwhelming momentum, Khaleja is projected to post record-shattering figures on its re-release debut, potentially setting a new standard for revived classics. If audience enthusiasm holds steady, the film could become India’s most successful re-release, though it’s still early to tell.
Directed by the celebrated Trivikram Srinivas, Khaleja features Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, and others in key roles. The plot centers on Raju, a cab driver who is unexpectedly deemed the chosen savior of a remote village plagued by a strange illness, forcing him to embrace his destiny.
