The British continues to see major companies close down a number of their store doors. and fashion brands are amongst those that have been impacted by a series of closures, with some announcing closures that will continue taking place right into the next year.


Amongst the many stores closing down, there are a few UK favourites that have announced that they will be shutting the doors at some of their branches this month, including , The Works, and Holland and Barrett. Below is a list of these chains' stores closing in June.

Iceland

The frozen food giant has already closed two stores this year, its Shenley Road branch in Borehamwood and the Alphington Road Retail Park store in Exeter. The next branch customers will have to say goodbye to is the Margate, College Square store, with it permanently shutting its doors on June 21.


The reasoning behind the closure has not been disclosed by the retailer. However, it has been confirmed that staff who have been impacted by it will be offered jobs within the business.

The Works

The discount retail chain, which has 526 stores across the UK and Ireland, will be closing its store on Margate High Street on June 8 - a few days from now.



A spokesperson for The Works said: "As part of ongoing plans to optimise our store portfolio, we will be closing our Margate store.


"We have loved being part of the local community and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure."

Holland and Barrett

The health and wellbeing chain will see its Inverness store close down this month. The store features signs in the window that read: "We're sorry this store is closing soon but you can still shop at hollandandbarret.com."


The news was also shared in a post, where a number of customers were shocked and saddened by the announcement, saying that how "excellet" the shop is and how "friendly and helpful" the staff are.


However, Bryan Murray wrote: "It is sad to see but realistically now we live in an age where most things are bought online anyway. The days of shopping and high streets are dead."
