It said: "The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed clockwise between J12 (M62/M602) and J15 near (M61) following a serious multiple vehicle collision. All emergency services are working at the scene with Greater Manchester Police leading the response at this stage. National Highways Traffic Officers are assisting with strategic closures on the approach. Crews are planning to clear the traffic caught within the closure as soon as it is safe."


Two people were rescued from their vehicles by firefighters. They, along with the six other casualties, have been assessed by paramedics. A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokesperson said: "Just after midday on Saturday June 7, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the M60 clockwise between junctions 13 and 14.


"Three fire engines from Eccles, Stretford and Ramsbottom stations, as well as the enhanced rescue unit from Leigh, were quickly sent to the incident. The collision involved five vehicles."
