A disturbing video has surfaced online showing Kanchan Kumari, an Ayurvedic practitioner from Siwan, Bihar, performing a Caesarean section in appallingly unsafe conditions. The footage, which has gone viral on social media, depicts the surgery being conducted in what appears to be a makeshift operating space, with no adherence to basic hygiene protocols.
Shockingly, the patient’s relatives are seen standing nearby in regular clothes, some even filming the procedure on their phones, while Kumari operates without a mask, surgical cap, or sterilised equipment.
The video was shared on X by a user named ‘THE SKIN DOCTOR’, who criticised the blatant disregard for medical safety. In his post, he wrote, “A ‘gynaecologist’ who can’t even spell the word correctly is performing a C-section in what looks like a storage room, with zero infection control. There’s probably no anaesthetist, and the room is packed with untrained bystanders.” He further questioned whether Kumari, who runs her own clinic in Siwan, is legally qualified to perform such procedures, calling her actions “criminally negligent.”
The video has triggered widespread outrage, with social media users demanding immediate action. One user condemned the incident, stating, “This situation is deeply alarming and highlights a severe breach of medical ethics and safety standards. Performing a C-section without proper sterilization, PPE, and in an inappropriate setting endangers the patient’s life. Filming during surgery shows blatant disrespect and irresponsibility. If Kanchan Kumari lacks proper qualifications and is practicing such negligent behavior, strict legal action must be taken immediately to protect patients and uphold healthcare integrity.”
Another remarked, “Just days ago, we saw a dentist attempting hair transplants, and now an Ayurvedic doctor is doing surgeries. When will this quackery end?” Others were more blunt, with one comment reading, “This isn’t a clinic—it’s a crime scene.”
Further allegations have surfaced about the prevalence of such practices in Bihar. One user claimed, “There are at least 40 so-called Ayurvedic doctors in Siwan and Gopalganj performing deliveries and C-sections illegally, often in collusion with ASHA workers.”
Kanchan Kumari, who described herself as a 'gynaecologist and obstetrician' on her Instagram account, has since made her account private and changed her profile picture.
