Shivamogga: As monsoon rains begin in the region, Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner has issued an order banning the movement of heavy vehicles on the Agumbe Ghat road from June 15 to September 30 as a precautionary measure.

The decision has been taken in view of the potential risk of landslides along the ghat section, caused by heavy rains and movement of large vehicles. The ban applies to trucks carrying gravel and other goods.

Authorities have directed that these vehicles take alternative routes during the restriction period. The recommended routes are:

Udupi–Kundapura–Siddapura–Mastikatte–Tirthahalli, or

Udupi–Karkala–Maal Ghat–Sringeri–Tirthahalli.

The measure is aimed at ensuring safety and preventing road damage during the rainy season.
