The BAFTA-nominated film Sister Midnight, featuring acclaimed actor Radhika Apte, is gearing up for its digital release after a limited theatrical run in India. The film, which opened in select cinemas on May 30, has now become available for international viewers to rent or buy digitally. However, the Indian OTT release date is still under wraps.
The official confirmation came through the film’s production house, Altitude Films, on Instagram. Sharing a glowing review from critic Mark Kermode, the caption read: “Very sharp. Very funny. Very surprising.” It continued, “BAFTA-nominated SISTER MIDNIGHT is available to buy or rent on digital now!”

Premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Sister Midnight features Radhika Apte in a standout role as Uma, a newlywed navigating a stifling arranged marriage with Gopal, portrayed by Ashok Pathak. Set against the vibrant yet claustrophobic backdrop of Mumbai, the story takes a dark turn as Uma, trapped in societal expectations, slowly transforms into a fierce, untamed version of herself.
The plot also explores her solitary journeys around Mumbai landmarks such as Marine Drive and Bandstand, and her routine rides on the city’s local trains.
Joining Radhika Apte and Ashok Pathak in key roles are Chhaya Kadam, Smita Tambe, and Daemian Greaves. The film has been widely praised by both critics and audiences, particularly for Radhika Apte’s powerful performance and its haunting, unconventional narrative.
As anticipation grows for the Indian OTT release, Sister Midnight continues to gain momentum as one of the year's most talked-about indie films.
