Business Business: India has brought its total energy generation capacity to 476 GW by June 2025, out of which half part is based Non-Fossil Fuels. According to government data, 235.7 GW capacity is coming from Non-Fossil fuels, including 226.9 GW renewable energy and 8.8 GW atomic power.
India’s renewable energy has 110.9 GW solar energy and 51.3 GW wind power capacity. In addition, renewable energy projects of 176.70 GW are running and 72.06 GW are on the bidding stage.
However, thermal power (coal -based energy) is still prominent and plays an important role in the entire system with a capacity of 240 GW (50.52 percent). Coal alone contributes 91 percent thermal energy.
