There is always a problem of air pollution in Delhi. There are also vehicles as well. The government has now taken a big step to deal with this. If their cars in Delhi are over 15 years old or the diesel car is more than 10 years old, they will not be able to fill fuel from any petrol pump since July 1, 2025. This new system is being implemented by the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) so that the end-off-life vehicles can be removed from the roads. Let’s learn more about this.

What are these end-as-lifel vehicles?

End-of-life vehicles are more than 15 years old petrol vehicles and more than 10 years old diesel vehicles. According to the registration, such vehicles have now been declared ‘end-of-life’ for such vehicles exceeded the fixed limit. Also, the use of such vehicles is now considered dangerous for Delhi air.

The car will be caught at the petrol pump

For this, the Automatic Number Plate Recognition has been installed, which will scan the vehicle’s number plate. Vehicle life, fuel type and registration detail will be adapted to its database, if the vehicle is found to be an eol, quick fuel will be rejected on the pump.

So far 3.63 crore vehicles have been scanning by the ANPR system. 4.90 lakh vehicles have been declared EO. At the same time, a PUC certificate of 29.52 lakh vehicles has been renewed and a fine of Rs 168 crore has been recovered.

What should Delhiites do if the vehicle is old?

Check the Registration Certificate (RC) to see if your vehicle is in the Eol (END -of-Life) category. If your vehicle is in Eol (end-of-life), consider scraping or registering the vehicle outside the NCR. Rinse PUC on time.

This decision is considered essential in the wake of the problem of traffic congestion and air pollution on Delhi roads. If you are living in Delhi and your vehicle is too old, now is the time to change.

The rules will be implemented in Maharashtra?

The implementation of this rule is unlikely to be implemented in Maharashtra. However, if your car is coming to the end-of-the-lif (Eol), you need to take a new car.
