Overview of the Incident

In a disturbing event, Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti orchestrated a shooting in Aman Nagar, Jalandhar district, Punjab, after failing to receive a ransom payment. Thankfully, there were no casualties reported. The shooting occurred around 8:30 PM when individuals on a motorcycle discharged firearms outside a residence. Upon receiving reports of the incident, police from the Jalandhar Commissionerate promptly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

During a briefing, Deputy Commissioner of Police Manpreet Singh Dhillon revealed that the targeted house is home to two elderly residents. Their son, who operates a restaurant in Portugal, was the intended victim of Bhatti's ransom demand made last Friday. Following the failure to collect the ransom, Bhatti ordered the shooting. Authorities discovered four bullet casings at the scene.

Charanjit Kaur, a resident of the house, recounted her experience to a reporter. She mentioned receiving a call just five minutes before the shooting, which she initially ignored. When she answered a subsequent call, the caller began to hurl insults, leading to a heated exchange. Bhatti then threatened her, warning that something unforeseen would occur shortly. Moments later, she heard gunfire, estimating that around 10 to 12 shots were fired.

Kaur added, "My three sons reside in Portugal; this appears to be linked to a travel agent's dealings. I lack further details on this matter."

This incident is part of a troubling trend of increasing gun violence in Punjab. Notably, Bhatti had previously plotted a grenade attack targeting YouTuber Roger Sandhu's residence in a nearby village.
