Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Aamir Khan’s much-awaited cinematic comeback 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has struck a strong chord at the box office. Marking the superstar’s return after three years, the RS Prasanna directorial has now surpassed the ₹70 crore mark domestically, according to figures from Sacnilk.com.


On its fifth day in theatres, the emotional sports drama added ₹6.05 crore to its collection — the lowest single-day earning so far. The film had a respectable opening at ₹10.7 crore on Friday, On Saturday it collected ₹19.90 crore and the collection peaked on Sunday with ₹27.25 crore. While Monday saw a dip with ₹8.5 crore, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' still held firm, bringing its total India collection to ₹74.23 crore.


With this, the film has officially overtaken the domestic lifetime collection of Aamir’s last release, 'Laal Singh Chaddha', which wrapped up its theatrical run at ₹61.36 crore in India.


Aamir’s surprise theatre visit


Earlier this week, Aamir delighted fans with an unannounced visit to a theatre post-screening. In a video shared by the makers, the actor is seen interacting with the audience. “Kaesi lagi film (How did you like the film)?" he asked, to which a fan responded, "Aamir we are proud of you. He also introduced director RS Prasanna and key crew members, expressing heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you so much for the love you are giving us. We really appreciate and we are really touched.”

On Tuesday, Aamir Khan hosted a special screening of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' for President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
