The Indian middle-order wall post-Rahul Dravid era, Cheteshwar Pujara, assured that he has no retirement plans as yet. Pujara has taken up the commentary role in the recent past and is assigned the same duty in the Anderson-Tendulkar series. However, in the ESPN Cricinfo Podcast, he clarified he is not retiring.

Pujara attended the podcast show with his wife, Puja Pabari, and there he was shown a video of India's former Test captain Rohit Sharma saying Pujara has not retired. The video belonged to the post-Gabba draw in the 2024-2025 Border-Gavaskar Series—the famous press conference where Ravichandran Ashwin came and declared his retirement announcement to everybody's surprise. Taking the clues from the video, Pujara agreed to Ro's statement and said,

"He is saying that I have not retired and I am not done yet. I would agree to that. This is the phase that I am still enjoying my cricket. I will think about the retirement part later. But at the moment, I am someone who likes to live in the present."

The 37-year old Pujara has been currently participating in first-class cricket and is a regular face in county cricket too. However, in international cricket, he is struggling to have a place in the squad since India played their World Test Championship at the Oval in 2023 against Australia. 

Since then he has picked up commentary and is touring England. He was seen presenting the debut cap to Sai Sudharsan in the first Test match at Headingley in England. 

Cheteshwar Pujara made his Test debut in 2010 and played until 2023. A technically sound No. 3 batter, he scored 7,195 runs in 103 Tests at an average of 43.60. His highest score was an unbeaten 206. He hit 19 centuries and 35 fifties, registering a strike rate of 44.36 from 16,217 balls. Pujara was known for his patience, grit, and match-saving knocks. Though not flashy, he became a cornerstone of India's red-ball success, especially overseas.
