Just weeks after the passing of the late Glee star's estranged father, his mother, Cory Monteith, has also passed away. Ann Marie McGregor died peacefully on June 18 at the age of 74, while Cory’s father, Joe Monteith, passed away on May 12 at age 75. Both had been receiving treatment for serious illnesses, and their respective families have expressed gratitude to the medical staff who cared for them during their final days. Her orbit reads, "Ann enjoyed her time gardening, along with her artistic pursuits on her acreage in Shirley, BC, together with Cornelius, Harley and her love birds. Ann was a person of strong character, and she carried that throughout her life."

Ann Marie’s passing marks another emotional chapter in a family that has faced great loss. Cory Monteith, who gained fame as Finn Hudson on
Glee, died in 2013 at the age of 31 from a combination of alcohol and drug toxicity. His death left his family and fans heartbroken. In a 2018 interview, Ann Marie spoke about how deeply she continued to mourn her son’s loss, stating, "I still can’t pick up the pieces. Drugs were his way of checking out. Cory didn’t want to die. There is no doubt about that."

Joe Monteith, Cory’s father, had been largely absent for much of Cory’s life. The two reconnected just two years before Cory’s death after being estranged for over a decade. In 2013, Joe opened up about his regret and heartbreak, sharing that he never had the chance to say goodbye to his son. “It’s just ripping my insides out,” he had told
People magazine at the time.

Cory Monteith’s death was not only a personal loss but also a significant blow to the
Glee cast and crew. The show was in between seasons 4 and 5 when the tragedy occurred. Actress Lea Michele, who dated Cory on and off the screen, returned to work only a month later. “I had to put my stuff aside and just show up,” she shared in a recent interview, adding that she wanted to ensure others could keep their jobs.

Years later,
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy reflected on that decision and expressed regret. “If I had to do it again, we would've stopped for a long time, maybe not come back,” he said.

Ann and Joe are survived by their other son, Shaun Monteith.
