Brad Pitt has made a turbocharged return to Indian cinemas with F1: The Movie, and its opening day numbers are already making waves. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the high-octane racing drama collected a strong ₹5.25 crore net across India on Friday, signaling a promising start.

Occupancy Gains Speed Through the Day
The film started modestly with a 13.93% occupancy during morning shows but quickly gained traction. Afternoon shows saw a jump to 27.14%, evening viewership reached 28.35%, and by night, occupancy hit a high of 41.84%. The film’s overall English 2D occupancy averaged 27.82%.

Chennai led the regional charge with 43% occupancy, followed by Hyderabad at 40.75% and Kochi at 31.75%. Surprisingly, metro hubs Mumbai and Delhi underperformed, recording only 22.25% and 20.5% respectively. Among premium formats, English 4DX topped the list with a robust 68% occupancy, followed by English IMAX (58.57%) and ICE (39.94%).

Beats Top Gun: Maverick but Misses Mission: Impossible
While F1: The Movie couldn’t overtake Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’s ₹16.5 crore opening, it outpaced several other Hollywood releases. It sped past Karate Kid Legends (₹1.75 crore), Bullet Train (₹0.45 crore), and even surpassed Top Gun: Maverick’s Indian debut (₹4.89 crore).

Racing Drama with Heart
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), the film stars Pitt as a retired Formula 1 champion who returns to the track to save a struggling team and honor his late teammate’s legacy. The blend of adrenaline-fueled racing and emotional depth has struck a chord with audiences.

With glowing reviews and strong word-of-mouth, F1: The Movie is poised for a powerful weekend run—though stiff competition from Indian titles like Sitaare Zameen Par, Maa, and Kannappa keeps the race wide open.
