Leaders from across political parties paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary. Remembered as the architect of India’s economic reforms, Rao was praised for his intellect, reforms, and deep roots in Telangana

Hyderabad: Cutting across party lines, leaders from different parties paid tribute to former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary on Saturday.
BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao hailed the former Prime Minister as a statesman who not only rescued India’s economy during difficult circumstances but also upheld the nation’s dignity on the global stage.

Hailing from Telangana, PV Narasimha Rao left an indelible mark as a reformist Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, he said. “Understanding the aspirations of Telangana people, the BRS government made all efforts to ensure PV Narasimha Rao got due recognition. PV is Telangana’s pride,” Chandrashekhar Rao said.


BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the former Prime Minister was a great intellectual and a great man, who handed over his land to the government and initiated key land reforms in the country.

The KCR government celebrated the centenary of the birth anniversary of PV Narasimha Rao, who laid the foundation stone for Gurukul Vidyalayas and rendered invaluable services to the education sector, he said on X.

“The BRS government also passed a resolution to confer Bharat Ratna on PV Narasimha Rao, and the same was sent to the Central government,” Rama Rao reminded, adding that the BRS government honoured the former Prime Minister’s daughter Surabhi Vani by nominating her as MLC.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the former Prime Minister on his birth anniversary. “India is grateful to him for his effective leadership during a crucial phase of our development trajectory. His intellect, wisdom, and scholarly nature are also widely admired,” Modi said on X.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy paid floral tributes to the former Prime Minister at his residence in Jubilee Hills. PV Narasimha Rao was a polyglot, writer, and the Father of Economic reforms in the country. A slew of innovative policies were also introduced by him in the education sector, he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka paid tributes at PV Gyan Bhoomi on Necklace Road. It was a matter of pride that the former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna awardee, and architect of economic reforms, was born in Telangana, he said.

Former MLC N Ramchander Rao, BJP State spokesperson, and Narasimha Rao’s grandson NV Subhash also offered tributes to the former Prime Minister.
