New Delhi: Down to nine men in extra time, reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday. Desire Doue struck in the 78th minute to give PSG the lead before Ousmane Dembele scored in injury time to seal a 2-0 win for the French side in what was a dramatic finish to the game.
Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala suffered a horrific injury late in the first half of the quarter-final. Musiala appeared to have twisted his ankle after a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The young Bayern player appeared in significant pain after the horrific injury and was forced to leave the ground on a stretcher.
The injury appeared gruesome as Musiala’s boot got stuck below Donnarumma’s body when the PSG keeper was diving to save the ball from the Bayern midfielder. The injury took place right at the brink of half time as players from both teams looked completely distraught when the 22-year-old was carried off the ground.
