The M60 remains closed in both directions nearly 24 hours after a horrific eight-vehicle crash on the major motorway. Emergency services rushed to the scene between junctions 27 at the Portwood roundabout and junction one just before 11.30am on July 7.


On Tuesday morning, National Highways said: "REMINDER The M60 in Greater Manchester remains closed in both directions between J25 and J1 near #Stockport #Bredbury following a multi-vehicle collision. Emergency works remain ongoing."


The body added that the motorway would remain closed for a "substantial amount of time".
