The Wimbledon tennis tournament is currently drawing attention from celebrities across the globe. After stars like Priyanka Chopra, David Beckham, and John Cena, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma were also spotted enjoying a match on July 7. Their photos from the stands quickly went viral on social media.
However, what caught many by surprise was the presence of TV actress Avneet Kaur at the same Wimbledon match. Soon after she shared pictures from the venue, some social media users began trolling her, claiming she was trying to "follow Virat bhai" to gain attention.
Virat, dressed in a brown suit, was seen supporting Novak Djokovic, while Anushka looked elegant in a white blazer. Around the same time, Avneet Kaur posted her own pictures from Wimbledon, dressed in a white top and short skirt, carrying a brown purse. In her caption, she wrote, "One day at Wimbledon, thank you so much for inviting me here, there is only one Wimbledon." Her pictures began circulating widely, with some users accusing her of chasing publicity by attending the same event as Virat.
Comments on her post included jabs like “You’re following your brother” and “Wherever Virat ji goes, Avneet will also go there to gain followers.” Some even humorously suggested that Virat “looked worried because she was there.”
This isn’t the first time Avneet has been linked with Virat Kohli. A while ago, one of her fan pages posted a few pictures which Virat Kohli had liked. The like sparked controversy, leading Virat to clarify that it was an unintentional action caused by Instagram’s algorithm during feed cleanup. He emphasized that there was no personal motive behind it.
Despite the explanation, the incident led to a spike in Avneet’s popularity — with her Instagram followers reportedly increasing by 2 million. The surge also boosted her brand value and sponsored post rates, keeping her in the media spotlight ever since.
