Sneha Debnath, a student of Delhi University, was missing for the last six days. Today his body has been recovered from the Yamuna river. According to Delhi Police, the body was found floating in water near Geeta Colony flyover on Sunday evening. Sneha has been identified by her family.

Sneha lived in the environment complex

Sneha was 19 years old. She was a native of Tripura and lived in the environment complex in South Delhi. She was a student of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College and was missing since the morning of 7 July. She last talked to her family members at 5:56 am on the same day and told that she is going to Sarai Rohilla railway station with her friend Pitunia. Shortly after this, his phone switched off.

When the family tried to contact and failed, he approached Pitunia, who told that Sneha did not meet him that day. Concerned by this, the family started searching for him. During investigation, it was found that Sneha was released by a cab driver near the Signature Bridge, but no clear CCTV footage was found in that area so that he could find out further.

Search operations in areas around Signature Bridge

Later, on July 9, Delhi Police carried out a search operation in the vicinity of the Signature Bridge with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), but did not get any success. Meanwhile, the police had received a note of Sneha, indicating that he had made up his mind to jump from the Signature Bridge. After the incident, the office of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha also took cognizance of the matter and issued instructions to Delhi Police for speedy and appropriate action.
