Indeed, since Kevin Feige announced that the post-credit sequence was filmed by the Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo) on the Doomsday set, there has been much speculation that Fantastic Four will continue the trend of one MCU film leading into another. Director Matt Shakman referred to it as "passing the baton"
The Fantastic Four: Initial Steps director Matt Shakman also confirmed through ComicBook that he did not shoot the film's post-credits. When asked if it was challenging to hand over the reins to the Russos, Shakman remarked, "The Russo Brothers were very engaged, and as we were producing this film, they expressed interest in visiting our sets and observing scenes as they developed to familiarize themselves with these characters, ensuring they would be treated well in the next film. They are excellent guardians of these characters. I often liken working at Marvel to running a relay race. You sprint as hard and fast as you can with the baton for your segment of the race, and then you pass it on. I handed it off to Joe and Anthony, and they’re off and running, which is fantastic."
