London: A video of a man eating fried chicken inside the International Society for Krishna Consciousness’s (ISKCON) Govinda restaurant is going viral on social media. Netizens were furious and asked the authorities to take action against the man’s actions at the vegetarian-only eatery.

The clip, now making rounds online, showcased a man entering the establishment and enquiring if they served meat. The staff at the counter kindly told the man that the eatery did not serve meat or even foods containing onion or garlic. “Hi, is this a vegan restaurant?” asked the man. Later, he asked, “So, there’s no meat – nothing here?” Soon after the staff answered his question, he took out a box of chicken and began consuming it in the restaurant. He even offered the meat to the staff and other customers at the eatery.

Despite the staff protests, the man continued. Meanwhile, a customer confronted the man. The patron asked, “Excuse me, what you are doing is violating the rules of this place, and it is not fair.” However, nothing stopped the man. He continued to cause commotion. Eventually, he was removed from the place.

Video: Man brings chicken into ISKCON restaurant in London and eats it

Horrendous. 😳😡

This African-British youth entered into ISKCON’s Govinda restaurant – knowingly that it’s pure Veg restaurant – asked if there’s meat available, then pulled out his KFC box and not only ate chicken (chewed like a 🐷), but also offered others working/eating in… pic.twitter.com/TtPJz9Jg7m

The video triggered angry reactions. Many, especially desis, were miffed and demanded immediate action. They wondered about the reasons for such unprovoked attacks.

One person commented, “The intentional violation of a cultural and religious norm in this manner is a clear demonstration of intolerance that cannot be tolerated in any civilised society.” Another stated, “He achieved nothing by harassing people! Zero achievement but created a nuisance in society.”

A third person commented, “Bringing outside food into a restaurant is strictly prohibited. Introducing meat into an ISKCON establishment is not only disrespectful but also undermines the principles we uphold. We must take appropriate action to maintain the sanctity of our space and community.”
