The Uttarakhand government has released the calendar of school holidays in August. Many big festivals, including Independence Day, also fall in this month. According to the released calendar, there will be three major public holidays in August 2025. Most of the schools in the state will remain closed on these days. At the same time, there is no study in schools on 15 August. Various types of programs are organized in all schools on this day.



Uttarakhand School Holiday August 2025: When will the schools remain closed?



Rakshabandhan is on 9 August, Independence Day is on 15 August, and Krishna Janmashtami is on 16 August. All the schools in the state will have a holiday every Sunday. Sundays are falling on 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 in August. In such a situation, all the schools in the state will remain closed on these days. A total of three public holidays and five Sundays fall in this month. In such a situation, schools will remain open for only 23 days and closed for eight days.



Most of the schools in Uttarakhand will also remain closed during these festivals and holidays. Apart from this, it is also the rainy season in Uttarakhand. During the warning of heavy rains, the District Magistrate can issue an order to close the school intermittently. Due to this, the number of holidays in August will increase.



Not only in Uttarakhand but schools all over India will have holidays on many important festivals like Rakshabandhan, Independence Day, Janmashtami, and Ganesh Chaturthi. Rakshabandhan is on Saturday, August 9 and due to Sunday after that, many schools may also give two or three days leave in some states. Independence Day is on Friday, Janmashtami on Saturday and Sunday after that. Ganesh Chaturthi is on Wednesday, August 27.
