Chennai: Famous actor and comedian of Tamil cinema S.K. Krishnamurthy died at the age of 71. He was also known as ‘Madhavan Bob’. The actor suffering from cancer breathed his last at his residence in Chennai, Adyar on 2 August.
Tamil film industry and fans are very sad with his death. Madhavan Bob was born on 19 October 1953. He started his career as a composer and later stepped into acting. Bob, known for his comedy’s unique style, gesture and eyes expression, made his special identity in supporting roles in Tamil cinema. His inspiration was veteran comedy actor Kaka Radhakrishnan. His film career started in the year 1984 with Balu Mahendra’s film ‘Dangenal ketvai’, but his first leading film was ‘Vanme Ellai’.
Madhavan Bob acted in more than 700 films, including ‘Thenali’ (Diamond Babu), ‘Pammal K. Films like Sambandam, ‘Friends’ (manager Sundeswaran) and ‘Saathi Lilavati’ are included. He has worked with stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajit Kumar, Surya and Vijay. His comedy method was liked by the audience, who used to give fun touch even in films with serious themes. He has also worked in Tamil as well as two Malayalam and a Hindi film.
Madhavan Bob’s contribution in the field of music was also notable. He studied western classical and Karnataka music from gurus like Vikku Vinayakaram and Harihar Sharma. He also appeared as a judge in the popular show ‘Asthapovathu Yaru’ of Sun TV.
Actor Prabhudheva, who was hurt by Madhavan Bob’s death, posted on the social media platform ‘X’ and expressed condolences, “His presence always brought happiness on the set. We shared the screen many times, he was a cheerful, humble and brilliant person. The atmosphere was happy. The atmosphere was happy. He would always remember his family.” He is survived by his wife and children.
