GATE 2026 Registration: IIT Guwahati has launched the official website of GATE 2026, and the application process will start from 25 August 2025.



There is big news for the youth preparing to make a career in the field of engineering and science. Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has launched the official website for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering i.e. GATE 2026. Now students can get all the necessary information by visiting this website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.



This time the GATE exam will be conducted in February 2026, for which the application process will start from 25 August 2025. If you want to go to MTech, PhD or government job through GATE, then this opportunity is for you.



How and when to apply?



The process of applying for GATE 2026 will be completely online. Starting from 25 August 2025 to 25 September, students will be able to apply without any late fee. If a student is unable to apply on time, then he can apply with late fee till 6 October 2025.



GOAPS i.e. GATE Online Application Processing System will be used for application. Here you have to submit all your necessary information, documents and fees.



When will the GATE 2026 exam be held?



GATE 2026 exam will be conducted in the month of February for a total of four days – 7, 8, 14 and 15 February. All exams will be computer based and will be held at centers across the country. The exam results will be declared on 19 March 2026.



Who can apply?



Only those students can appear in this exam who are pursuing or have completed graduation in Engineering, Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Architecture or Technology from any recognized institute. That is, if you are a student of the third year or above of any graduate degree, then you will be considered eligible for GATE 2026.



How much will be the application fee?



This time the application fee for GATE 2026 has been fixed according to the category. Female candidates, SC, ST and PWD (Divyang) students will have to pay a fee of Rs 1,000. If these students apply with late fee, then they will have to pay Rs 1,500. Candidates of General, OBC and all other categories will have to pay a fee of Rs 2,000. With late fee this amount will become Rs 2,500.



What are the benefits of GATE score?



GATE score is not only for admission in MTech or PhD, but many big PSUs of the country like BHEL, ONGC, NTPC, IOCL etc. also recruit through it. Many colleges also give admission in post graduate courses on the basis of GATE score, even if the student does not get a scholarship.
