Nijut Moina 2.0 Scheme: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday launched the Nijut Moina 2.0 scheme to provide financial assistance to the girls for their education. Sarma stated that the scheme will assist more than four lakh girls of the state, adding that it will also help in reducing the cases of child marriage. The Assam chief minister further stated that the scheme will provide financial assistance up to the postgraduate level and beyond. Sarma emphasised that the government is taking multiple such steps to empower the girls of Assam. Sarma also slammed the individuals involved in promoting child marriage in the state.

Nijut Moina 2.0 Scheme: How much money will the students get? 

While providing details, Sarma stated that the government is aiming to nullify the cases of child marriage in Assam by 2026. While defining the scheme as one of the biggest incentive schemes for the girls, Sarma stated that it will help the girls to achieve their financial goals. While the girl students of classes 11 and 12 will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1000, first-year and second-year graduate students will get Rs 1250 per month.

"A new scheme called Nijut Moina, through which we want to encourage million girl students to pursue education without any financial trouble. Under this scheme, girl students of classes 11 and 12 will receive a monthly stipend of rupees 1000. A first-year and second-year graduate student will get rupees 1250 per month, and a post-graduate girl student will get 2500 per month," Sarma told reporters.

"This is one of the biggest incentive schemes for the girls. I am sure that this scheme will prevent child marriage. This scheme will be an inclusive one. This scheme will encourage girls to pursue education up to the postgraduate level and beyond," the Assam chief minister added.
