The A12 was shut near Colchester in Essex after an incident, meaning drivers were met with long delays.


Essex Police told The Express they were at the scene of an incident involving concerns for the safety and wellbeing of a woman on a bridge over the A12.


At the time officers said they were trying to "resolve this situation as quickly and safely as possible".


National Highways said the closure on the southbound carriageway was from junction 29 to 27.
