Shah Rukh Khan was recently awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor for his phenomenal double role in Atlee’s movie Jawan. The family entertainer proved to be a hit at the box office, and people loved Shah Rukh’s work in the movie. But not all SRK movies have received the same love and admiration from the audience. Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero, released in 2018, was one such example where the movie failed to strike a chord with the audience.

Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in Zero is still a topic of discussion for many. Actor and writer Lilliput, who has often spoken about the topic of dwarfism, recently expressed his thoughts about Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in Zero and compared it to Kamal Haasan’s role in Appu Raja. During an interview with Red FM Podcast, Lilliput criticised Shah Rukh’s acting and said that it is easy for a non-blind person to act like a blind person, but it gets very difficult for an average-height actor to convincingly play the role of a dwarf.

Criticising Shah Rukh Khan’s acting, Lilliput exclaimed that his stature as an actor did not help him play the role rightfully. He expressed, “We know you are good looking and cute so our impression of what you are ends there. We are not looking at a dwarf, we are looking at a hero who has been made to look like a dwarf via visual effects, and what is your script trying to say?”

Lilliput further compared Shah Rukh Khan’s performance to Kamal Haasan’s role in the movie Appu Raja and explained that Kamal Haasan was wise enough to pick out the physical details of a dwarf like smaller fingers and thicker arms. “Kamal ji ki aap copy kar rahe ho. Unke acting ki charno ki dhool bhi nahi ho aap (You are copying Kamal ji. And you are not even equal to the dirt on his feet),” he added.
