Patna. For millions of government employees and pensioners working in Bihar, this year can bring a big relief before festivals. After the two percent dearness allowance (DA) increase implemented from January 2025, it is now expected to increase three percent more from July. If this happens, the current 55% DA will increase to 58%.

Why is the dearness allowance equal to the center?

The Bihar government pays its employees as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission of the Central Government. For this reason, the personnel of the state also get the same dearness allowance that the central government gives to its employees. The central government amends the DA twice a year – January and July – and the Bihar government implements the same rate after some time.

What is the reason for DA growth?

The dearness allowance and dearness relief – Dr is calculated on the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI -IW), which is fixed for industrial workers. According to the June 2025 data, this index has gained 1.0 points, which is estimated that DA has a three percent increase.

When will the announcement be done?

According to media, dearness allowance by the central government can be announced in September or October 2025, and will be considered effective from July. A few days later, the Bihar government will also implement the same rate for its employees. This decision will probably be declared around Dussehra and Deepawali, which will provide both additional relief and enthusiasm before the festivals.
