The late director Yash Chopra once talked about his close relationship with Shah Rukh Khan , emphasizing the actor's humility and trustworthiness. Chopra, who worked with Shah Rukh on a number of classic movies, claimed in an old interview that when he was offered a role under the Yash Raj label, SRK never inquired about the script or his fee.
Here's a closer look.
Shah Rukh Khan's unwavering trust in the late Yash ChopraA long-standing creative collaboration began when Shah Rukh and Yash Chopra collaborated on 'Darr' (1993). They have produced hits such as 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' (2008), ' Veer Zaara ' (2004), 'Mohabbatein' (2000), 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' (1995), and 'Dil To Pagal Hai' (1997) over the years.
In the interview conducted on his 80th birthday, Chopra stated, "I have always had a great experience working with him." “He is one actor who never asked me what the story is about or how much money he will charge... Whatever amount I send him by cheque, he takes it and even asks why I gave him so much.”
"He doesn't meet me before we start shooting," the director continued. "Why meet?" he asks. "I don’t want to know the story or talk about money. So why meet?’ It’s all because he has faith in me.”
Following Veer Zaara, the two worked together again on Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), which was Yash Chopra's last film as director before his passing. He had stated, "I wanted to make something soul-touching," in reference to the movie. This film is a gift to me from my son Aditya. He told me, ‘Make the film, Dad. I’ll take care of everything.’”
Furthermore, Yash Chopra called the collaboration between A.R. Rahman and Gulzar on Jab Tak Hai Jaan "magical."
