Noida: In a shocking incident, a daycare worker in Noida was caught on CCTV physically abusing a 15-month-old toddler. The accused, Sonali, has been arrested for dropping the toddler, hitting her, and allegedly biting her thigh. The infant sustained noticeable bite marks and other injuries.

The incident, reflecting every parent’s worst nightmare, unfolded at a daycare centre in Sector 137, which the child had been attending for two hours every day since May. The mother of the child, a resident of Paras Tierea, reported the incident at the Sector 142 police station last week, after the child appeared unusually distressed earlier in the week and was found to have bite marks on her thighs. The mother took the child to the doctor to get the injuries checked.

Once the doctor determined the marks were consistent with human bites, the mother demanded to see the CCTV footage. The shocking footage showed the attendant, identified as Sonali from Shahdara village, slapping the child, throwing her to the ground multiple times, striking her with a plastic bat, and biting her thighs. As per the CCTV footage, the daycare owner, identified as Charu, was watching the incident without intervening. When approached by the mother, Charu and Sonali reportedly misbehaved and threatened her.

An FIR has been lodged against both individuals under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those addressing voluntary causing of hurt, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace.

Police confirmed that Sonali, who had begun working at the facility just 10 days earlier, was taken into custody. The toddler underwent a medical examination to document injuries. Authorities are pursuing a thorough investigation into the matter.
