The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is completing 100 years of its establishment this year. On this historic occasion, the Vijayadashami festival will be held on 2 October 2025 at the historic Reshimbagh ground in Nagpur. Former President of India, Dr. Ramnath Kovind will attend the ceremony as the chief guest. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was established in the year 1925 on the day of Vijayadashami. Since then, this festival has become a symbol of self -determination, cultural pride and resolution of national values for the Sangh. The celebration of this year holds special significance because the Sangh is celebrating its centenary.
The main attraction of the festival will be traditional weapon worship, which is considered a symbol of the protection of religion and the victory over the evil of good. According to tradition, the Sangh chief (Sarsanghchalak) will address Dr. Mohan Bhagwat Swayamsevaks. His annual speech explains the organization’s attitude on national, social and cultural issues and attracts the attention of the entire country.
Under the Vijayadashami festival, Apta (Shami) leaves are also exchanged, which is considered ‘gold’. It is a symbol of prosperity, brotherhood and harmony. In the evening, volunteers meet Sarsanghchalak and offer these leaves, which further strengthens the mass bond.
In the previous years too, many prestigious celebrities have joined the Sangh’s Vijayadashami festival. In this event in 2024, former ISRO Chief Dr. K.K. Radhakrishnan was the chief guest. This time, the presence of former President Dr. Kovind will make the event historic and dignified. This festival will prove to be a milestone on the occasion of the completion of 100 years of the Sangh. A large number of volunteers and common people from all over the country are expected to participate in this event adorned with tradition, symbol and self -consciousness.
