In this direction, the Northern Railway Lucknow Division Administration has made its first AI operating cell.

How will it be used?

Currently, the first use of AI will be in the Crew Management System (CMS), where the work of fixing the duty of shunting and loco pilots is done.

Two IT section employees have been deployed in this cell, studying the use of AI in train operations.

The help of software experts is also being taken so that the pilot project (AI in Indian Railways) can be prepared and presented to the Railway Board and Center for Railway Information System (CRIS).

Steps in passenger facilities

Right now IRCTC is using AI to answer the questions of passengers. At the same time, the cab signal system of semi-high-speed trains like Vande Bharat Express will be linked to AI, so that the loco pilot can get information about signal and possible barriers from the cabin itself.

Safety and technology

The collision of trains coming face to face on the same track will be prevented by the armor system.

There is also a plan to link cab signaling and microprocessor unit to AI.

Its advantage will be first visible on a 160 km per hour capacity track between Lucknow-Kanpur.
