Fallout 76 Season 22 launches today with a wealth of fresh items and finally eliminates building restrictions to make it simpler than ever to craft the C.A.M.P. transformation of your dreams.

Fallout 4introduced the concept of building bases to the series, and Fallout 76 has run with it in the game's C.A.M.P. system that lets you buy, craft and earn items to jazz up your wasteland abode. That being said, the process can be incredibly janky when trying to snap on walls and similar construction items, and can restrict your creativity as a result.

That could all change today though, with Fallout 76 Season 22 bringing in a C.A.M.P. overhaul that makes it "easier to build and gives you more tools to build with," according to creative director, Jon Rush, in the developer preview below. Players can anticipate a fresh Workshop menu that better sorts items into main and sub categories so, in theory, construction shouldn't be such a pain.

The most significant development here though, is that construction restrictions on placement are being eliminated. This means you can toggle snapping, intersecting, and free place anywhere. Combined with the new influx of items we're receiving, including in-game branded goods, there are two new pets arriving as well: the Sable Shepherd and Ragdoll Cat.

Meanwhile, Fallout 1st members are receiving even more C.A.M.P. storage with the brand-new Doctor Bag Aid Box that they can chuck all of those aid items into.

While the Fallout 76 Season 22 update doesn't appear to be bursting with content, we've only just received the fishing update in Season 21 Gone Fission which brought the fishing mechanic and themed rewards, and honestly, removing the build restrictions is quite significant. Bethesda is also urging players to give their C.A.M.P.s a makeover with a series of monthly camp-building contests featuring "huge prizes".

A dedicated blog post explores this further with the first competition, Rebuild Appalachia, running from the beginning of Fallout 76 Season 22 today, Tuesday, September 2, through until Monday, September 29.

However, we're still awaiting the new season to commence, so here's when it begins along with today's Fallout 76 server downtime schedule.

Fallout 76 Season 22 launch time and server maintenance

Fallout 76 Season 22 is scheduled to begin at approximately 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST today, on Tuesday, September 2. This is based on a three-hour downtime period (the typical downtime for new seasons) and confirmation via Twitter that Fallout 76 servers are going offline at 7am PDT / 10am EDT / 3pm BST to implement the update, which is the standard time for the game's updates to be deployed.

While the average downtime is three hours, the Gone Fission update took just over four hours to roll out, so we could be waiting until 11am PDT / 2pm EDT / 7pm BST to get back online, but we'll keep you posted.
