There's traffic mayhem on the A1 near Newcastle after the road was closed due to a serious collision.


A spokesperson from North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the A1 southbound near Newton Aycliffe today (10 September) at 15:06.


"We dispatched two ambulance crews, one critical care paramedic and a clinical team leader to the incident. One patient was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital."
