Banks, government offices, school-colleges and other institutions will remain closed in Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Maharaja Hari Singh Jayanti on Tuesday, 23 September 2025. However, this holiday is valid only for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Banks will be open normally in the rest of the states.
Maharaja Hari Singh was the last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, who was born on 23 September 1895. He sat on the throne in 1925 and made significant contribution in areas such as social reform, women empowerment and education under his reign. His birth anniversary is now celebrated as a state holiday in Jammu and Kashmir.
