A bilateral meeting was held between Jaishankar and Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Muttaki. In this meeting, both the countries took many important decisions towards strengthening their relations. India announced to give embassy status to its technical mission in Kabul, which is considered a big and important diplomatic step for both the countries.

Jaishankar said that this visit is an important step towards strengthening the relations between the two countries and taking forward the enduring friendship. He said that India, as a close neighbor and well-wisher of the Afghan people, has a keen interest in the development and progress of Afghanistan. India provides all possible help like health, help in natural disasters, and food aid to the Afghan people.

S. Jaishankar also discussed the field of cricket during this period. "Sports is an area where our two countries have a long-standing good relationship. The emergence of cricket players in Afghanistan has been very inspiring. India is happy to provide further support to Afghan cricket," he said. After this he made the most important announcement. Jaishankar said, "India is fully committed to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Afghanistan. The strong cooperation between us contributes not only to the national development of Afghanistan but also to regional peace and stability. To further enhance this, I am happy to announce today the elevation of India's Technical Mission in Kabul to the status of Indian Embassy."
