Queen icon Sir Brian May was flooded with support from fans as he issued a devastating statement about the loss of his friend. The guitarist, 78, took to social media this weekend to pay tribute to Phil Webb - his friend and driver who he had known for decades. It was the "saddest day of Brian's life" when Phil died suddenly of a heart attack in 2023.

Now, two years on from that fateful day, Brian has issued another statement, which read: "In my thoughts today, the unforgettable Phil Webb - seen here with me, proudly looking after me as he always did, at my knighthood ceremony at Buckingham Palace. He was suddenly taken from this world two years ago, way, way too soon.

"He was the kindest man I ever met, to ever man, woman and child, no matter what their colour or creed, and a passionate champion of animals, all of which makes him, to me, one of the greats. We all miss ya Phil, too much. RIP."

Fans rushed to support Brian, with one writing: "He was such a kind man, dearly missed. Beautiful picture of you both. Sending lots of love on this sad day."

Someone else said: "Sending extra love to all the people around him."

Brian initially announced the news of Phil's death two years ago with a statement that read: "This is one of the saddest days of my life. Last night we lost Phil Webb to a heart attack. Phil, my dedicated driver for over 30 years was my family's dearest friend and protector and the kindest and most decent man I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

"We are all devastated and join with Phil's wife and son in grieving for the last man on Earth to deserve this much too early passing away.

"Bless you dear Phil - we all love you. We're proud of the life you led, and forever grateful for everything you gave us - more than any words could ever describe."
