Delhi Government Water Bill Waiver Scheme: The Delhi government has provided relief on outstanding water bills and fines. The entire fine will be waived until January 31st, and the same discount will be available from February 1st to March 31st.

Delhi Government Water Bill Waiver Scheme: The Delhi government has provided significant relief to consumers suffering from increased water bills. The government has launched the LPSC Waiver Scheme, under which penalties on past outstanding bills will be waived. If consumers pay their outstanding bills by January 31, 2026, they will receive a full penalty waiver.

If they pay between February 1, 2026, and March 31, 2026, they will receive a 70 percent discount. This scheme was implemented on October 14th and will benefit approximately 1.6 million consumers. Through this scheme, the government aims to resolve old disputes and improve the financial condition of the Water Board. Learn what needs to be done to get the fine waived.

Outstanding water bills will be waived.

If you live in Delhi and have outstanding water bills, the Delhi government is offering you relief. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that outstanding water bills will be waived. A fine of approximately ₹11,000 crore is being waived. Currently, Delhi consumers owe a total of ₹87,589 crore, of which 91 percent is in the form of LPSC (Law and Order) fines.

Domestic consumers owe more than ₹16,000 crore. Consumers can pay the entire bill in one go or in installments. Previously, a 5% compound interest charge for unpaid bills has been reduced to 2%. The government wants as many people as possible to take advantage of this opportunity and receive relief from their past due bills.

Opportunity to legalize illegal connections

The government has not only waived outstanding bills but has also provided a last chance to legalize illegal water and sewer connections. Previously, domestic consumers had to pay a fine of ₹26,000 for this. Now, they will have to pay only ₹1,000. For non-domestic consumers, this amount has been reduced from ₹61,000 to ₹5,000.

However, this exemption applies only to the fine amount. Normal water charges and connection fees will still be payable. The Chief Minister stated that due to lack of awareness, many consumers had not yet received validation. They are now being given this opportunity. Action will be taken if illegal connections are found after the scheme.

You can avail the benefit until this date.

The Delhi Jal Board has clearly stated that both the LPSC amnesty scheme and connection validation are the last opportunities. This will provide relief to consumers and help the Jal Board recover outstanding dues. The government wants both the water supply and billing systems to be transparent and digital in the future. This scheme is a relief for consumers who have been facing problems due to inaccurate or excessive bills for a long time. If you have not yet paid your water bill or legalized your connection, do not miss this opportunity till January 31, 2026.
