Former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai has been appointed chairperson of the 8th Pay Commission committee. She has previously led several major commissions and constitutional matters, including the UCC.

The Government of India has approved the proposal to form the 8th Pay Commission. This commission's mandate is to recommend changes to the salaries and allowances of government employees, pensioners, and defense personnel. Former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai has been entrusted with this important responsibility. Now, people across the country are curious to know who she is, what her experience is, and what direction the Pay Commission can take under her leadership.

Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai was born in Mumbai in 1949. She studied at Elphinstone College in Mumbai and then completed her law studies at the Government Law College. Interestingly, when she decided to pursue a career in law, her family was not in favor. Her father, himself a renowned lawyer, wanted her to go to London and pursue further studies in economics. But Ranjana chose law and proved herself.

After completing her law degree, she began working in a relative's chambers. During this time, she landed a case in which her hard work and arguments led to her first victory, and her fee was only 35 rupees. This was her first legal success, giving her the confidence to move forward.

Several Important Decisions

While in the Supreme Court, she delivered significant judgments in several important cases. For example, in the black money case, she issued strict instructions to the central government, which accelerated action against illegal money in the country. Her decision in the Nithyananda controversy was also highly acclaimed.

This is how much pension she receives

According to media reports, retired Supreme Court justices receive a pension of 1.5 million rupees annually, along with several other benefits. Apart from this, information about how much salary he will get while being in the 8th Pay Commission committee is not available yet.
