News India Live, Digital Desk: A big and relief news has come for lakhs of owners of 10 year old diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR. Due to the strict orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Supreme Court, the vehicles which till now were considered scrap after completion of 10 years, can now get a new life. Delhi Transport Department has now started issuing No Objection Certificate (NOC) for these 10 year old diesel vehicles. This NOC simply means that now you can sell or transfer your 10 year old diesel car outside Delhi to any state where such vehicles are allowed to run. This decision is a big relief for millions of car owners, whose even well-conditioned vehicles become useless just because the 10-year rule is over. What is the whole rule? Let us remind you that in view of the increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR, the NGT and the Supreme Court had ordered that diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years will not be allowed to run here. Because of this, the Transport Department did not renew the registration of these vehicles nor did it issue NOC for other states. But now the Transport Department has relaxed these rules and decided to issue NOC for 10 year old diesel vehicles with some conditions. For which states will NOC be available? This is the most important question. Delhi government will not issue NOC for every state. NOC will be issued only for those states or places where there is no restriction on re-registering 10 year old diesel vehicles. The Transport Department has released a list, which includes many states including Rajasthan, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, where these vehicles can be transferred. However, there are some states where there are strict rules on registration of old vehicles, like Haryana and some NCR areas of Uttar Pradesh, for which NOC will not be available. Therefore, before transferring the vehicle, it is important to find out what are the rules of that state. How to apply for NOC? Vehicle owners can apply online for NOC on the ‘Parivahan’ portal, the official website of Delhi Transport Department. You will have to attach a copy of all the necessary documents of the vehicle like Registration Certificate (RC), Insurance and Pollution Certificate (PUC) along with the application form. On applying, the department will check that your vehicle is older than 10 years. It should not be too old and all the documents are correct, after which NOC will be issued. This decision is definitely a big relief for those people who were forced to sell their very good vehicles as scrap at throwaway prices. Now they can get the right price for their car and their car can get a new life in another city.
