A new facility is going to start soon for metro and railway passengers in the capital. In the coming months, Lucknow will get another skywalk, which will directly connect Badshahnagar metro station with Badshahnagar railway station. This facility will bring great relief to thousands of passengers who travel between these two stations daily.
Badshahnagar Metro Station, located on the Red Line of Lucknow Metro, is right in front of the Railway Station, but due to the absence of a direct route between the two, passengers were inconvenienced. Now this problem will be solved by the construction of a 100 meter long and 5 meter wide skywalk. With the construction of this skywalk, metro and train passengers will no longer have to cross the road to change stations.
Railway administration has completed the feasibility report of this project and now it has received approval from the headquarters. “The drawings of the skywalk have been sent to the metro administration, and it is targeted to be ready within a year,” said Gaurav Aggarwal, DRM, North Eastern Railway. The project will have both civil and electrical works, so that passengers can have a comfortable experience in all weather conditions.
Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, the railway administration has decided to build a ticket counter at the Skywalk itself. With this, passengers will not have to stand in separate queues to buy tickets after reaching the station. Additionally, after alighting from the skywalk, passengers will be able to directly reach the platform via lifts and escalators.
According to railway officials, with the opening of Gomti Nagar railway station, Badshahnagar station will become the new railway hub of the capital. Most of the trains will stop here, which will directly benefit lakhs of passengers traveling on the Red Line.
The skywalk in the capital started at Lucknow Junction railway station, where it was connected to Durgapuri metro station. Now Badshahnagar Skywalk will be the next step in this series, which will further modernize the transit system of Lucknow.
