Vijay Sethupathi-Sai Pallavi to star in Mani Ratnam's next: Report

The South Indian film industry is abuzz with the news of a new project by legendary director Mani Ratnam, reportedly starring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi.


This will be their first collaboration, and it's generating huge anticipation among fans.


The film promises to be a mega affair, although details about its title and storyline are still under wraps.

Casting details


Initially, the lead role was reportedly offered to Simbu. However, it has now been handed over to Sethupathi, who will star opposite Pallavi.


Notably, Ratnam had earlier expressed his fondness for Pallavi, making this film a dream come true for fans of both artists.


Apart from this project, Pallavi is also set to star in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana.

The official announcement of the film is expected in January 2026, after Pongal. Principal photography is set to begin in April 2026, reported Cine Josh.


Reports suggest Pallavi underwent a special photoshoot for the project on December 5, 2025.


This will be a reunion for Ratnam and Sethupathi, who previously worked together on the hit film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam/Nawab.
