Telegram, which is growing rapidly in the world of messaging apps, is once again in the news for its new feature. Keeping in mind the convenience and security of the users, the company has introduced a new option to biometric log-in. Through this feature, now in many situations users will not have to wait for OTP or SMS again and again. As soon as you enter your thumb or face ID, you will be able to access your Telegram account immediately.

What is the new change?

Telegram has further simplified the process of log-in and app access. Under the new update, users can secure their account with fingerprint or face unlock. Once the account is verified on the device, OTP is not required when logging in again on the same device. This not only saves time, but also eliminates the problem of not getting OTP due to network problem.

Better balance of security and convenience

The company says that this feature is especially beneficial for those users who frequently log-out and log-in the app or who have SMS network problems. The inbuilt security system of the phone is used in biometric log-in, due to which the security of the account is also maintained.

However, Telegram has also clarified that OTP or other verification will be required at the time of first-time login or sign-in on a new device. The biometric feature will work only on verified and trusted devices.

How to activate the feature?

To use this feature, users will have to go to the Privacy & Security settings of Telegram. Here “Passcode Lock” or “Biometric Lock” option has to be turned on. Once the settings are complete, you will get direct access through fingerprint or Face ID as soon as you open the app.

What benefit will users get?

With this new feature, using Telegram will become even faster and easier. Especially for office professionals, students and users who use multiple accounts or devices, this update can prove to be very useful. Besides, there will be relief from security concerns to OTP fraud and SMS.

Telegram’s bet in increasing competition

In view of the increasing competition between WhatsApp and other messaging platforms, Telegram is constantly introducing new and advanced features. This facility of biometric log-in is also being considered an important step in the same direction.
