After leaving us on something of a cliffhanger at the end of season four last year, the long-awaited return of season five of Emily in Paris has finally landed on Netflix today. Although viewers are keen to find out what happens next to Emily – and whether she’ll now be in Emily in Rome – we also can’t wait for the return of her fun fashion and French-inspired beauty looks.
Fans will no doubt be looking for details on how to copy some of her makeup tricks at home, which is why we managed to track down some of actress Lily Collins’ on-set beauty secrets, including her coveted go-to red lipstick. There have been a few shades and brands of red lipstick used over the seasons, but one used by makeup artist Sylvie Payen most frequently on set is Victoria Beckham’s £37 Posh Lipstick in the shade Pop.

The Posh Lipstick has a creamy, moisturising balm base that keeps lips hydrated and soft whilst wearing it with no drying, cracking or flaking. However unlike most balm lipsticks, which usually have more of a sheer colour payoff, the Posh lipstick still has a rich, highly pigmented formula that creates a solid swoop of colour on your lips.
Not only does it keep your lips feeling soft and supple, but it’s packed with nourishing oils which lock in the hydration all day and give the illusion of fuller-looking lips. There’s plenty of different shades to choose from, but the shade Pop was picked for Lily to wear as Emily thanks to its classic French-inspired cherry red hue.
Another of MUA Sylvie Payen’s on-set beauty secrets is using the £42 By Terry Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder 8HA to reduce shine and help makeup last longer. It's one of her most-used products for perfecting the complexion, with Sylvie using it lightly on the T-zone to control shine without masking the skin, noting that “actually seeing the skin under the makeup is very important” in a CNN interview.
The pressed powder not only sets your makeup in place, but it blurs pores and smooths texture, leaving your skin looking flawless in seconds. Unlike other powders, though, it’s not drying and doesn’t leave skin looking cakey.
Instead it’s infused with three types of hyaluronic acid to add moisture to your complexion without looking shiny or oily. It’s also completely translucent, so you can use it on all skin tones without leaving an ashy or chalky residue.
