The hitcomedy-drama Emily in Paris is backon Netflix for its fifth season,introducing a slew of new characters while welcoming back familiar faces, including the formidable Sylvie Grateau, played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.


Sylvie,Emily Cooper's (Lily Collins) tough-as-nails boss and owner of Agence Grateau, a luxury marketing agency in Paris, is renowned for her straight-talking approach and her command over men.


Now 62, French actress Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, daughter of actor Philippe Leroy and model Françoise Laurent, has had a long and illustrious career in the industry.

Her first foray into acting was in the 1983 comedy-drama Surprise Party, and a recently discovered photo shows a young Leroy-Beaulieu alongside co-star Christian Vadim, radiating the same elegance and beauty she possesses today, more than four decades later. Her performance in the 1985 comedy Three Men and a Cradle earned her a nomination for the César Award for Most Promising Actress.


In her early years, Leroy-Beaulieu spent time in Italy where her father was involved in the local film industry. At 16, she moved to Paris to study drama.



Despite her parents' attempts to dissuade her from pursuing an acting career, she remained steadfast in her ambition. In 1985, she landed her first significant screen role in Three Men and a Cradle.


The comedy's triumph helped launch her film career and she went on to appear in several period dramas, before taking the titular role in the French film Natalia during the late 80s.


On television, she portrayed Catherine Barneville in the comedy series Call My Agent! and featured as a leading character in the detective series, Agathe Koltès.


Her striking appearance in later years certainly caught attention as in April 2025, she was revealed as a brand ambassador for L'Oréal Paris' Age Perfect Collagen Expert skincare range in France.


Regarding her personal life, she shares a daughter called Taïs with her partner, director Richard Bean.


Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, the actress confessed she "didn't expect ageing to be so nice", saying: "Ageing is great. Just being relaxed about things.


"Not needing validation all the time. And knowing what's important. I didn't expect it to be so nice, actually."
