News Desk. Another big project towards strengthening road connectivity in Uttar Pradesh is rapidly taking shape. The construction work of Agra-Bareilly Expressway has been expedited by the National Highway Authority of India, which is going to make transportation between the western and central parts of the state easier. The completion of this ambitious project will not only reduce travel time but will also give new impetus to economic and social activities.
Travel will be fast and easy
This 228 km long Greenfield Expressway will help in covering the distance from Agra to Bareilly in a very short time. While at present it takes five to six hours on this route, after the construction of the expressway, this journey will be completed in just two to two and a half hours. This will provide relief to passengers from jams and save both fuel and time.
These districts will get direct benefit
This expressway will directly and indirectly connect a total of 15 districts including Agra, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Badaun and Bareilly. Activities to trade, education, health and tourism are expected to get a boost in these areas. Especially the connectivity of Bareilly with Agra and Mathura will be better than before.
Construction work going on in four phases
According to NHAI, the project is being completed in four phases. About two-thirds of the work between Mathura and Hathras has been completed and traffic has also started in some parts. Vehicles are being operated between Hathras and Kasganj after the construction work is almost completed. The construction process on Kasganj to Badaun section is in the initial stage. Work is also progressing rapidly in the stretch from Badaun to Bareilly. About 50 percent work has been completed in the two phases, due to which the project is likely to be completed before time.
Expressway will be equipped with modern facilities
Modern infrastructure has been taken care of on this four-lane expressway, which is being built at a cost of about Rs 7,700 crore. Flyovers, underpasses, big bridges and rail overbridges are being built on the route, which will facilitate local traffic and reduce the chances of accidents. A target has been set to complete the Agra-Bareilly Expressway by the year 2027.
