AUS vs ENG, 3rd Test : On Friday, England reached 286 in the first innings against Australia’s 371 thanks to a valiant 86 from skipper Ben Stokes. Mitchell Starc got Stokes out with an in-swinger that broke his stumps, depriving him of a worthy hundred. Stokes and Jofra Archer (51) were part of a fantastic 100-run partnership.

Interestingly, this was Starc’s 12th Test dismissal of Stokes. Stokes averages 18.6 versus the 35-year-old, giving the Australian the upper hand in this matchup.


Archer Gets Maiden Fifty for His Fight


With five fours and a six, Archer completed his first Test fifty in 97 balls after taking a fifer in the test’s first innings.


Archer and Josh Tongue continued to play for a time when the lead was finally under 100, but Archer was dismissed for a 105-ball 51 by Scott Boland. With an 85-run deficit, England was out for 286.


The Aussies’ best bowlers were captain Cummins (3/69) and Boland (3/45).


After 19 Overs, Australia is 72/2.


Australia’s advantage had grown to 159 at the time this piece was published, and Travis Head and Usman Khawaja were undefeated in the second session.


Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse have each taken a wicket, putting Jack Weatherald (1) and Marnus Labuschagne (13) back in the house.
