YouTube: In today's digital age, YouTube is not just an entertainment platform but also a major source of income. Every day we hear about videos surpassing 100 million or 1 billion views. This raises the question in everyone's mind: how much money do you get for 1 billion views on YouTube? The answer isn't straightforward, but the figures will surely surprise you.

What does 1 billion views mean?

1 billion means 100 crore views. This is no small achievement, and very few videos in the world reach this milestone. However, the number of views alone doesn't determine the earnings; several other factors play a crucial role.

How does YouTube pay?

YouTube primarily pays creators through advertisements (ads). When a user watches a video and sees or skips the ads displayed on it, the earnings are generated accordingly. This is commonly referred to as CPM (Cost Per 1000 Views) and RPM (Revenue Per 1000 Views).

Estimated earnings for 1 billion views

On average, YouTube's RPM in India can range from 20 to 200 rupees per 1000 views. If we do a very simple calculation:

Assuming an RPM of 50 rupees → approximately 5 crore rupees for 1 billion views

Assuming an RPM of 100 rupees → earnings could be 10 crore rupees

If the RPM reaches 200 rupees → the figure could go up to 20 crore rupees

This means that earnings for 1 billion views can range from a few crores to several crores of rupees.

Why are the earnings different for each channel?

Not all YouTubers receive the same amount of money. This is due to the type of content. Advertising is expensive in niches like technology, finance, and business, which is why they generate higher RPM (Revenue Per Mille/Thousand Views). On the other hand, music, comedy, and viral shorts get more views, but the RPM is lower. Factors such as the audience's country, the video's watch time, and the number of ads also affect earnings.

Earnings beyond ads

Besides ad revenue, YouTubers also earn substantial income from brand deals, sponsorships, Super Chat, memberships, and merchandise. Sometimes, brand deals generate more money than videos with a billion views.
