The Princess of Wales's younger brother, James Middleton, has opened up about how close he is with both of his sisters and revealed the sweet advice they share over the phone in a new interview. Mr Middleton spoke about the bond that keeps him close with Princess Catherine and Pippa Middleton and gave a rare glimpse into what the siblings speak about during their phone chats.

In a new interview with Hello! Magazine, in support of the Dogs Trust Christmas "Happy Place" campaign, he revealed that he speaks to his sisters about all things babies and dogs.

He said: "I think we're really fortunate to be a very close family. We get together as a family relatively regularly, and love that opportunity. You're always on edge with being a parent, particularly this time of year with coughs and colds and sniffles going around.

"They're definitely at the end of the phone if we need a bit of advice. And equally, they know that I'm on the end of the phone if they need a bit of advice on managing their dogs."

The Prince and Princess of Wales own Orla, a black cocker spaniel who regularly features in their family photographs and who this year gave birth to four puppies.

They previously had Lupo, another black Cocker Spaniel, whom they had since 2012, who passed away in 2020.

Mr Middleton, who is an ambassador for the Dog Trust, also spoke about his late Cocker Spaniel, Ella, and how she changed the course of his life, helping him through clinical depression to pursue acting.

He said: "Dogs don't care who you are.

"They are the best secret-keepers."

Princess Catherine's brother is married to Alizée Thévenet and they share a son, Inigo, born in September 2023.
